Ghana’s first gentleman, His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo while giving out his speech during the Global Citizen Festival which was held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, in Accra, Ghana, was not made to feel comfortable by the crowd.
The purpose of the event was to bring together artists and international leaders to advance a policy agenda that centered on empowering women and girls, safeguarding the environment, and bringing about change.
Ghanaian performers at the Global Citizen Festival included Gyakie, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Kwesi Arthur, Yaw Tog, and UK-based Ghanaian rapper Stormzy also as they thrilled thousands. Performances also came from American musicians SZA and Usher Raymond IV, as well as Nigerian musicians in the likes of Tems, Tiwa Savage, and Oxalade.
Akufo Addo Booed At Global Citizen Festival: The youth of the gathering was not all impressed seeing the president give his speech where he spoke about the Government’s plan of finding a better solution to the poverty crisis, and also reminded them once again about the effect of the Russia-Ukraine war on the country’s economy.
The youths who were gathered at the Independence square for the event decided to boo the president as a way of registering their displeasure in his administration (governance) especially looking at the current state of Ghana’s economy.
