Andrews Egyapa Mercer is new Tourism Minister

President Akufo-Addo recently reshuffled the government, and Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal lost his job as the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the deputy minister of energy, has been moved to lead the tourism ministry.

Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, said in a news statement dated February 14 that the President had decided to name new Ministers.

Additionally, Andrew Egyapa Mercer represents Sekondi as an MP. He was a lawyer with substantial expertise in the corporate, commercial, and finance sectors before being appointed as the Deputy Minister for Energy. 

He was the CEO and Lead Attorney of Messrs. Mercer & Company, an Accra-based corporate and investment legal business.

Previously, he was in charge of First Atlantic Bank’s Legal Division, which included the departments of Corporate Affairs, Company Secretarial, and Law.

Before joining First Atlantic Bank, Mr. Egyapa Mercer started his legal career as a student and then as a Senior Associate at Messrs. Acquah-Sampson & Associates.

He is a member of the Parliament’s Committees on Privileges, Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs, and Special Budget.
