Under the management of Erik ten Hag, Elanga has experienced a decline in his prominence within the team, having made only seven starts in various competitions this season.

Describing the season as challenging, Elanga expressed his frustration in an interview with Swedish outlet Aftonbladet in March.

He acknowledged that playing time is ultimately determined by the coach, stating, “It is frustrating.”

“You want to play – it’s important – but whether you play or not, it’s up to the coach, not me.”

“I have spoken to Erik [ten Hag] and it is private between the two of us.”

“I know what he wants me to do and I just keep training hard. When the opportunity comes, I just have to be ready to take it.”

Next month, Manchester United will conclude their season with the FA Cup final against Manchester City, and it is unlikely that the Swedish international, Elanga, will be included in the starting lineup.

Elanga’s most recent appearance for the Red Devils was in the previous month when he came off the bench for a four-minute stint against Sevilla.

The 21-year-old’s last start for the team dates back to January when he featured in the 3-0 victory against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup.

Elanga finds himself lower in the hierarchy compared to Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho.

Both Garnacho and Sancho are not regular starters, and Elanga recognizes that it may become increasingly challenging to secure playing time in the next season.

Reports suggest a potential change at Old Trafford, as Manchester United is rumored to be considering a departure for their captain, Harry Maguire.

Additionally, there have been ongoing links between the club and Napoli’s talented South Korean defender, Kim Min-jae.

In addition to Maguire and Phil Jones, several other players have been speculated to be potentially leaving the club.

The list includes Diogo Dalot, Anthony Elanga, Fred, Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Brandon Williams.

Furthermore, there are indications that three more defenders could be on their way out of Old Trafford.

Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, and Alex Telles, who have spent the current season on loan at Marseille, Stoke City, and Sevilla respectively, may not have a future with the club.

Furthermore, it is anticipated that Fred will depart from Manchester United, with Fulham expressing interest in the Brazilian midfielder.
