Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif continues to rise on the global music scene with yet another major international recognition. The “Kwaku The Traveller” hitmaker has secured a nomination for the 2025 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, under the prestigious Best International Act category.
The nominations, which were announced on May 8, 2025, place Black Sherif alongside a broad list of international musical talents. The award recognizes his growing recognition as one of Africa’s most notable musical exports in recent years.
Black Sherif will be facing strong competition from fellow African and international artists. This nomination adds to Black Sherif’s expanding portfolio of accolades. The rapper made history in 2023 when he won the Best International Flow award at the BET Hip Hop Awards, becoming only the second Ghanaian artist to achieve this, following Sarkodie’s win in 2019.
The 25th edition of the BET Awards is scheduled to take place on June 9th, 2025, broadcasting live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by popular comedian Kevin Hart, promising fans an unforgettable night filled with music, comedy, and major wins.
This year’s ceremony marks a significant milestone for the BET brand, and the list of nominees showcases a powerful mix of mainstream and emerging artists. Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations with a staggering 10 nods, including Album of the Year and Video of the Year.
Following closely are Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla, each with six nominations, while Metro Boomin garners five. SZA and The Weeknd are also in the spotlight, picking up four nominations apiece.
