President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Free Senior High School proposal has drawn criticism from well-known media personality and artist Blakk Rasta.

According to him, the policy has not produced the anticipated level of education.

The meals provided to these students, he continued, are insufficiently nourishing.

Additionally, he lamented the fact that kids had a short study period but a long holiday, saying it was detrimental to their mental health.

Speaking on the Urban Blend programme on 3FM, which GhanaWeb monitors, Blakk Rasta referred to the Free SHS as a “scam” because of the way it has been put into practice and demanded an investigation.

“What sort of education are we providing our kids with? Free SHS is just a fraud. “You go to school for one month and go home and sit for thirteen months” is what kind of education is that? There are extra classes everywhere, taking advantage of the students every day of the week. Do you think this is common sense?

“I detest Satan more than I detest the current state of this [Free] SHS education. They feed them soup and kenkey when you go to the school. It’s called ‘gas’ at certain schools these days, I’ve heard, because when you place it there and open the lid, it smells quite light and gas-like. Twelve pupils shared the tilapia’s head that was placed inside. Is that how you envision free SHS? He became enraged.

Some lawmakers, educators, and other well-known citizens of the nation have criticised the Free SHS policy, arguing that it needs to be reevaluated to remedy the shortcomings.

But the administration has dismissed the requests, stating that it is correct.
