A young woman who made the decision to go out and have fun with her family didn’t have a good start to the year.

According to reports, a firework got stuck in the Brazilian mother’s garments and exploded on New Year’s Eve.

Elisangela Tinem, a 38-year-old mother of two, was tragically killed in front of her two children when a firework detonated on the beach in Sao Paolo, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

A crowd is seen in the footage viewing fireworks on the beach before the camera pans to reveal the explosion.

“I saw a huge flash just as it turned midnight and I was hugging my mum and then everyone started screaming,” one witness revealed.

“I saw a woman lying on the ground bleeding when I went to look and the boy who was with her was also on the ground,” another witness added.

According to the report, the fact that the firework did not belong to Tinem or her family led the local police to conduct a homicide investigation into the occurrence.

In light of this, one family member posted on social media, “I cannot believe what has happened,”

“My love to all the family. May God comfort your hearts at this awful time. I am praying for you.”
