BREAKING: Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor dies at 62

Amaechi Muonagor, a veteran Nollywood actor, passed away at age 62 following a long illness.

On Sunday, social pundit Morris Monye revealed this via his X Twitter.

It was reported that Muonagor was receiving dialysis due to kidney failure. Only a few days had passed since his viral video in which he begged for money to receive a kidney transplant before the unexpected news of his death.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing,” remarked Monye.

“He was a great Nollywood actor who had a very masterful presence on our screens.

“We were worried about him as he struggled with health problems and did everything we could to support him in getting treatment in India.

“This tragic loss serves as a reminder that our nation needs better healthcare.”

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Muonagor was born on August 20, 1962, and is originally from Idemili, in Anambra.

He was both a producer and a performer. He received a nomination in 2016 for the AMVCA 2017 Best Actor in a Comedy.

Muonagor began working with the News Agency of Nigeria in 1989 following his youth service. A few years later, he quit his job to play Akunatakasi in the Nigerian film Taboo 1, which was his debut acting role.
