Nottinghamshire Police have released alarming CCTV footage as part of their investigation into a brutal street robbery that left a man in his 40s seriously injured.

The shocking incident occurred early on September 7, around 4 a.m., outside the Fusion nightclub on St James Street.

The victim had just finished work and stopped to buy cigarettes when he was ambushed by a group of five men and two women.

The footage shows the man fleeing, only to be chased down by his assailants. He tripped over a bollard, falling victim to a savage attack involving kicks, punches, and being whipped with a belt as he lay on the ground.

Sergeant Ethan Spinks of Nottinghamshire Police described the attack as noting the victim suffered a dislocated shoulder and severe cuts and bruises.

In a cruel twist, the attackers stole the man’s bag, which contained his mobile phone and an engagement ring he had purchased for his partner, as well as a remote-controlled DJI Mini Pro drone.

“The level of violence is completely unacceptable on the streets of Nottingham,” Sergeant Spinks said.

“We are committed to bringing those responsible to justice and are exploring every possible lead.”
