Champions League Quarter Finals Full Draws

The Champions League draw which took place today have been concluded. The best football teams, so far, who are still in the elite competition now know their different opponents. Holders and Current Champions Chelsea will face 13-time winners Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will battle Benefica for a spot while Fellow Premier League side, Manchester City will face Atletico Madrid. Also, Bayern Munich will do battle with Villarreal who surprisingly hammered Juventus for the spot.

Meanwhile, in the semi-finals, the winner of the Benefica v Liverpool tie will face either of Bayern Munich or Villarreal, while the progressing team between Chelsea v Real Madrid tie will face Manchester City or Atletico Madrid.

The two-leg quarter-finals will be played in April with the first leg coming up on 5-6 April while that of the second leg is on 12-13 April. Furthermore, the final of this year’s UEFA Champions League has been moved from St Petersburg following the war between Ukraine and Russia.

It will be played at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday, 28 May.

The draw means that Chelsea will face a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti who managed the PL side for two seasons between 2009-2011. He had won a Premier League title and performed a double on the FA Cup during that period.

The Italian manager is one among just three who have won the UEFA Champions League for three times, including with Real Madrid in 2014.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have not lost to Real Madrid in five European meetings – beating them with an aggregate of 3-1 during last year version of the competition to progress to finals – winning it with a lone goal from Kai Havard.

Also, Manchester City who continues in their quest to win their first-ever Champions League trophy faces Atletico Madrid which happens to stand between them and the semi-final spot. The citizens thrashed Sporting Lisbon by an aggregate of 5-0 while Atletico defeated Manchester United by 2-1 to set up the tie.

In the other hand, Liverpool are looking forward to an unprecedented quadruple having lifted the Carabao Cup by defeating Chelsea on penalties. Liverpool is also on the PL title race; lagging behind Manchester City by a point and are in the FA Cup. They battle Benefica for a semi-final spot in the Champions League.
