Chelsea and Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has rejected the chance to join his old boss Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur this summer as he would prefer to return to Inter Milan.

Lukaku who joined Chelsea from the Serie A giants last summer in a deal worth £97.5million has has endured a difficult first season back at stamford Bridge and would like to go back to Inter after rejecting an offer to join Spurs.

Romelu Lukaku was meant to be the key to pushing Chelsea towards a title challenge this year after playing a major part in 2020-21 Serie A title success with Inter milan, scoring 64 goals in 95 games for Inter in two seasons but has been unable to replicate that form at Chelsea.

The Belgian striker started off well for the Blues but went downhill quickly following a controversial interview with Sky Italia back in January which led to Lukaku spending a lot of time on the bench.

The Belgian has a contract with Chelsea until 2026 as the club demands €20million loan deal, it could be a very expensive loan deal for Inter Milan should he leave the London club this summer.

Sport outlet Calciomercato reports that Inter are willing to sign the striker permanently for a fee around €80/90million should convince the Blues, with the Italians paying an initial €20million to the Premier League side and postponing the rest over the years.

Inter have not yet held talks with Chelsea regarding a formula that could lead to a transfer, with a loan the only realistic possibility from the Italian club’s perspective. Lukaku’s representatives intend to speak to Chelsea soon to understand how they view his future.

Todd Boehly and Thomas Tuchel wants to recruit new forwards as potential replacement with the club monitoring Raheem Sterling who has a year remaining on his deal at Manchester City, Lautaro Martinez, Robert Lewandowski and Christopher Nkunku contract, are all targets Tuchel would love to sign.

According to Reports, Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Romelu Lukaku over a salary of £6.3million which would mean a £3.9m reduction of his earning at Chelsea (10.2m).

His lawyer has been given an ultimatum of 15 days to convince Chelsea to accept the loan formula as the Blues look for a swift solution to this issue.

Belgium international were to hold talks with Todd Boehly and the higher-ups ahead of making his final decision.

Whether or not these talks have happened or not seem to have had no impact on the striker who reportedly wants nothing to do with current manager Thomas Tuchel ‘anymore’ according to the latest Italian reports via Sport Witness.

I think if he plans to talk with the owner, maybe it is not his plan to talk with me. It’s fair enough. Let’s see if he gets a meeting! It is his right. We will talk to anybody,” Tuchel said on Lukaku ahead of the FA Cup final.

We will evaluate any situation of any player, including Romelu. We will see what is going to happen and what the plans are.

This situation could get very interesting but it is certain that Lukaku won’t be joining Spurs this summer.
