American stand-up comedian, actor, and filmmaker, Chris Rock has turned down an offer to be the host of Next year’s 2023 Oscars.
The comic actor who was asked by the board to host the event the following year declined, he made the announcement at a standup set in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday, August 20, 2022, as he explains why he declined the offer.
During a stand-up act, the comic revealed that the awards’ organizers had invited him to return for a third time as host.

According to reports, the actor equated accepting the hosting role to returning to the site of a murder.
Rock alluded to OJ Simpson’s murder trial. The former football player was charged with the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson.
During the trial, it was argued that her murder began with Nicole leaving a pair of glasses at an Italian restaurant.
And the actor explaining why he will not host the show said that returning to the award ceremony would be like asking Nicole “to go back to the restaurant.”
Following the event, he stated he received an opportunity to make a Super Bowl ad. However, he also “profanely” declined.
