- Javian Adams, 25, accused of killing both parents in Waterbury, Connecticut
- Argument over money and lack of contribution reportedly sparked the shooting
- Surveillance footage captured mother’s final words before attack
- Adams allegedly shot both victims execution-style
- Arrested after burglary attempt in nearby Watertown
- Facing life imprisonment if convicted under Connecticut’s murder laws
A 25-year-old Connecticut man has been charged with fatally shooting his parents in what prosecutors describe as a brutal execution-style double murder, following a heated argument over his failure to contribute financially to the household.
Authorities say Javian Adams faces multiple charges, including murder with special circumstances, felony murder, and criminal use of a weapon, after the violent incident in Waterbury earlier this week. Additional charges of burglary and larceny were filed after a break-in the following morning.
Investigators allege Adams shot his mother, Carlene Williams, 51, twice, and his father, Marc Adams, 55, once in the back of the head. Both victims were found dead inside Williams’ home on Monday night, according to WFSB.
Police say the violence erupted after a verbal confrontation over money. Surveillance footage reviewed by WVIT captured Williams shouting at her son, saying, “You don’t pay rent, you don’t pay a bill, you don’t even buy food.” Adams allegedly replied, “I don’t care no more. F— what y’all say.”
The dispute was not new, authorities noted. Although Marc Adams lived separately, he and his son had frequent arguments, often linked to accusations of theft and domestic tension. Court records show that Javian Adams had previously been charged in December 2024 with assault, strangulation or suffocation, and risk of injury to a child, highlighting a pattern of escalating violence.
Following the killings, police say Adams fled the scene, stole his mother’s white Ford Escape, and later broke into another home in Watertown, about 15 minutes away.
One homeowner told WVIT he found Adams in his garage, acting disturbingly calm. “I told him ‘leave’ a bunch of times,” the resident said. “He just kept saying, ‘I’m hungry.’ He was super calm, super like passive.”
Police from the Watertown Department located Adams near Lake Winnemaug Road and Sperry Road after responding to a burglary report. They later confirmed he was “potentially involved in an untimely death investigation from the previous night in Waterbury.” Officers say Adams appeared to have abandoned a backpack, sneakers, and the vehicle before his arrest.
Adams is currently being held on a $6 million bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on October 22. If convicted of murder with special circumstances, he faces life imprisonment without the possibility of release, the harshest penalty under Connecticut law.
The killings have sent shockwaves through the local community, reigniting debates over domestic violence prevention, mental health intervention, and the rising rate of family-related homicides across the U.S.
