Former United States President, Donald Trump has publicly responded to Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris following the recent presidential debate.
The former president said on Fox News on Wednesday morning (September 11th) that Swift’s decision to back his opponent in the upcoming 2024 US general election could have an influence on her career.
Swift, who had been mute on the 2024 race, broke her silence right after the Trump-Harris debate. After watching the candidates’ performances in Philadelphia, the singer posted to her 283 million Instagram followers that she had made her election decision.
However, Trump appeared unimpressed about the pop star’s endorsement when he appeared on Fox & Friends on Wednesday morning. “I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” Trump claimed, disregarding the importance of her endorsement.
He claimed that Swift’s liberal views will have implications in the marketplace. “It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it,” he added.

In contrast, Trump thanked Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, for liking one of his posts on X (formerly Twitter). Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is the Chiefs’ tight end, adding a personal element to the unfolding drama.
Swift’s endorsement also included a strong statement against misinformation, citing a recent fake video of her endorsing Trump. “Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” Swift wrote.
She emphasized the value of transparency in governmental decisions and encouraged her supporters to confront misinformation with truth.
Swift encouraged her fans to register to vote and participate in the democratic process. “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make,” she added.
Swift ended her message by telling first-time voters about the importance of registration and the benefits of early voting.
This is not the first time Trump has dismissed Swift. Back in 2018, after Swift endorsed two Democratic candidates in Tennessee, Trump remarked that he liked her music “about 25 percent less now.”
During the same Fox & Friends interview, Trump criticized the ABC News debate moderators for being biased, calling it “three against one.” He also mentioned being “less inclined” to engage in another debate with Harris. Meanwhile, Harris’ team has shown eagerness for another round, indicating confidence in her performance during the debate.
