Rodriguez, 20, reportedly left her child unattended in a Miami Beach park for about 20 minutes after he misbehaved, authorities say.

Witnesses observed the child playing alone and, concerned for his safety, contacted the police.

Officers arrived to find Rodriguez walking down a nearby street, and a subsequent search of her purse, which she allegedly discarded in a bush, uncovered Xanax pills and loose marijuana.

Rodriguez is charged with child neglect without great bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of cannabis.

She denied being under the influence of drugs, although a witness told authorities that she appeared incoherent at the time.

The child was safely returned to the Miami Beach Police Station, where his grandmother later came to pick him up.

Rodriguez was initially taken into custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center but is no longer in custody, according to inmate records.
