Former Navrongo Member of Parliament (MP), Mark Owen Woyongo, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Bank of Ghana Hospital, as confirmed in a press statement issued by the Woyongo family on Thursday, January 18.
The announcement came with deep sorrow as Mr. Awini Zinge, the head of the Woyongo Family, shared the sad news about the death of their beloved son and brother.
Mark Woyongo, who served as the Interior Minister, had recently faced the loss of his son, Kenneth Kwotua, who was laid to rest at the age of 49.

The family statement also revealed that Mark Woyongo’s wife, Cecilia Wuni Woyongo, survives him.
After losing the 2016 election, Mark Woyongo retired from politics, marking the end of his political career. The former MP had a significant impact on the Navrongo constituency during his time in Parliament.
