A 17-year-old Georgia girl has been charged as an adult with the killings of her mother and stepfather, in a case that has shaken the Tyus town. According to authorities, Sarah Patrick allegedly shot both victims inside their house, while her 6-year-old sister saw the horrific act.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, James Brock, 45, and Kristin Brock, 41, were discovered dead on February 20, 2025, in their Carrollton Tyus Road residence. Sarah, who was inside the house at the time, is reported to have contacted 911 after her younger sister discovered the deaths.
Ashley Hulsey, Carroll County Sheriff’s spokesman, claimed that the tiny girl had no concept what had happened. “Smallest daughter found them, then came and told Sarah, and Sarah called 911,” she stated at a news event.
Hulsey went on to say that, despite being the one to call authorities, Sarah was present when the murders took place. Police now suspect she is responsible for the fatal shootings.
According to investigators, the arrest resulted from considerable evidence accumulated over several months. “Mountains of evidence have gotten us here today,” Hulsey added, alluding to a thorough and complicated case.
One of the most terrible aspects, according to police officials, is James Brock’s previous health issues. “He had a lot of heart problems and had been through multiple surgery. Hulsey speculated that he was once waiting for a transplant. “To survive all of that and still be killed, this is heartbreaking.”
Kristin and James were hailed as committed parents, and their abrupt deaths have stunned the community, particularly the impact on the surviving younger daughter.
Sarah Patrick now faces two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Though charged, the case remains under active investigation. Authorities hinted at the possibility of more people being involved or attempting to help cover up the crime.
“There’s a chance others may have had a hand in this,” Hulsey explained, without confirming specific suspects. She also noted that Sarah’s biological father turned her in after learning about the arrest warrants.
When asked if Sarah tried to conceal the crime, Hulsey responded, “Considering that she didn’t immediately tell us everything, yes. But it’s hard to fully grasp what goes through a young mind during something like this.”
Investigators continue to work closely with Sarah to ascertain her motive and whether she acted alone. Meanwhile, the community mourns the loss of two lives and is concerned about the emotional toll on the 6-year-old child, who is now without both of her parents.
