Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been stripped of the team captaincy by manager Erik Ten Hag
Confirming recent reports, Harry Maguire has announced that he is no longer the captain of Manchester United, following discussions with manager Erik ten Hag.
The decision comes after Maguire’s limited appearances under Ten Hag’s leadership last season, during which he started only eight Premier League matches. Speculation regarding his future at Old Trafford has been ongoing due to this reduced playing time.
Expressing his disappointment, Maguire took to Twitter to share the news and express his gratitude to the Manchester United fans for their unwavering support during his captaincy.

He acknowledged that being the captain of Manchester United has been a tremendous privilege and one of the proudest moments of his career thus far.
Maguire also thanked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for entrusting him with the role initially and extended his well wishes to whoever assumes the captaincy, offering them his full support.
He stated: “After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.
“So I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support whilst I’ve been wearing the armband. Since the day I took on the role, three and half years ago, it’s been a huge privilege to lead Manchester United and one of the proudest moments of my career to date.
“It’s one of the greatest honours in club football. I’ve done everything I possibly could to help United be successful – on and off the field. I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first giving me the responsibility and I wish whoever now takes it on every success and they will have my full support. Harry.”

During Maguire’s absence from the team last season, Bruno Fernandes often took on the role of captain.
It is widely expected that the Portugal midfielder will be appointed as the permanent captain moving forward. With over 170 appearances for Manchester United since his £80 million transfer from Leicester City in 2019, Maguire’s contributions to the club have been significant.
Recent rumors have linked Maguire with a potential move to West Ham United, adding another layer of intrigue to his future in football. – Activityrun.com.
