On Friday, it was announced that Barcelona would face a penalty of 500,000 euros due to inaccurate reporting of “profits on disposal of intangible assets” in 2022. Meanwhile, Manchester United received a fine of 300,000 euros for relatively minor “break-even deficits.”

In response to the outcome, Manchester United released a statement expressing their acceptance of the fine, acknowledging it as a minor technical breach of the previous Financial Fair Play rules recognized by UEFA.

Additionally, APOEL from Cyprus and Konyaspor from Turkey were each fined 100,000 euros for the same offense as Manchester United. Several other teams, including Istanbul Basaksehir and Trabzonspor from Turkey, Royal Antwerp and Anderlecht from Belgium, also incurred fines.

These decisions were made following the final round of monitoring conducted under the FFP rules, which have now been superseded by new sustainability regulations announced in the previous year.

Furthermore, a group of prominent European clubs such as Paris St Germain, AC Milan, and Inter Milan, who reached settlements with UEFA in September of the previous year, have successfully met the targets set for the financial year 2022.
