I chose a Belgian as the spokesperson for New Force because Ghanaians were apprehensive – Cheddar

The leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar, has revealed the challenges he faced in trying to find a Ghanaian spokesperson for the group.

He shared that despite making efforts to engage with various Ghanaians, none expressed a willingness to publicly advocate for the New Force Movement. Rather, they chose to remain anonymous.

In an interview with TV3 on January 11, 2024, Cheddar explained that he had no choice but to designate Ms. Shalimar Abbuisi, a Belgian national, as the New Force’s spokesperson because Ghanaians were unwilling to come forward publicly.

He clarified that although some Ghanaians showed interest at first, they eventually withdrew—possibly out of fear.

Cheddar declared, “We have been inviting so many people to join us since the New Force first started, with the mask and everything.

However, I want to inform the country today that despite our best efforts, a large number of people declined to serve as spokespersons because they were afraid to show their faces.”

The deportation of Ms. Shalimar Abbuisi sparked allegations of unfair treatment and human rights abuses.

The state dropped the charge of using a false declaration to obtain a student permit, and she was deported after being arrested again.

Her attorneys claimed that the charge was dropped because the Ghana Immigration Service was attempting to deport her.

However, the service had clarified that a decision regarding her fate had not yet been made.
