Stonebwoy, the popular reggae/dancehall singer, has stated that his deal with DefJam will not compel him to change his musical style.
But rather, according to the Ghanaian sensation, it will help him improve.
Regardless of DefJam’s posturing, the multiple award-winning artists underlined that he will focus on the genres in which he shines.
Stonebwoy is well-versed in afro-dancehall, reggae, afrobeat, and highlife, whilst the record label is recognized for promoting hip-hop and R&B singers.
Hence to that effect, Stonebwoy stated that what he is already known for played a significant factor in DefJam’s decision to sign him.
As a result, he has no incentive to change his approach.
On Thursday, May 5, 2022, he made these remarks at a press conference at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
Stonebwoy’s outdooring by DefJam was the subject of the press conference.
“If you ‘flip’ the switch, where is Stonebwoy again?” he said, asking the audience.
“This is the same Stonebwoy with whom these brands have chosen to collaborate in Ghana and West Africa,” the musician answered.
Despite his commitment to staying true to his roots, Stonebwoy stated that his fans and the rest of the globe will see a “different” Stonebwoy as a result of this new arrangement.
This, he claims, will demonstrate and increase his “versatility” as an artist, making him more popular around the globe.
The dancehall artist stated as follows:
“There is no change. It is just an improvement… because we want to get to a larger audience, we have to also be able to attract them to what they also know, so they can experience what this is.”
