Jerome Boateng joins Olympique Lyonnais on a two year deal

Olympique Lyonnais have completed the signing of German centre back Jerome Boateng on a free transfer which the French club confirmed on Wednesday.

The 2014 World Cup winner has signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 side Lyon.

The 32 year old centre back started his career at Hertha BSC where he developed from the youth ranks to the main team.

The German defender spent 10 years at Bayern after joining from Manchester City in 2011, where he won nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies with Bayern.

Former Manchester City and Bayern Munich defender has signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 side Lyon.

“I want to give my best for this club. I am looking forward to meeting my team mates,” admitted Boateng .               

“This is a quality squad with young players, tob which I can bring my experience.”                       

“I had received other offers, but it was important for me to have a good feeling about the club where I signed and to have a project to join.”

Jerome Boateng joins Liverpool ’s Xherdan Shaqiri as the latest incoming transfers for Lyon, who are currently 9th in Ligue 1 with a win and two draws after four matches played.
