Jill Jacobson, a beloved actress known for her roles in iconic TV shows like Star Trek, Falcon Crest, and The New Gidget, has passed away at the age of 70.

Jacobson died on December 8 at Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Centre following a long illness.

Jacobson’s career spanned four decades, and she was celebrated for her unique comedic timing and her ability to bring humour and glamour to every role.

In a heartfelt statement, her manager, Ben Padula, described Jacobson as “a total spitfire of an actress” whose comedic brilliance was reminiscent of the legendary Marx Brothers.

“Jill took us on so many adventures and was an absolute blast. Thank you, Jill. We’ll see you in our dreams,” he added.

Her Star Trek credits included appearances in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1989 and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1996.

Jacobson also became known for her role as private detective Erin Jones in Falcon Crest, where she appeared in 22 episodes during the 1980s.

Her portrayal of Larue Wilson on the ABC sitcom The New Gidget further solidified her place in TV history.

Her co-stars paid tribute to her remarkable talent. Caryn Richman, who worked with Jacobson on The New Gidget, praised her “brilliant comic timing” and described their time together on set as “joyful.”

In addition to her acting career, Jacobson was also a passionate advocate for cancer awareness, serving as a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society.
