Moon Bin, a member of the popular South Korean boy band ASTRO and its splinter duo Moonbin&Sanha, has passed away at the young age of 25. His record label and management agency, Fantagio Music, confirmed the tragic news on Wednesday, April 19th. However, the cause of death is still unknown.
In a statement released to the public, Fantagio expressed their condolences and announced that Moon Bin’s family would be holding a private funeral. They also requested fans to show discretion and avoid spreading speculative or malicious reports.
“We would like to apologise for the sad, heart-breaking news. On April 19, ASTRO member Moonbin suddenly left us to become a star in the sky.
“Although we cannot compare our sorrow to the grief that the bereaved families are feeling, losing a beloved son and brother, the ASTRO members, fellow Fantagio artists, company executives and employees are mourning the deceased in great sadness and shock.”
“We sincerely ask you to refrain from speculative and malicious reports so that the bereaved families, who are in a state of great sadness and sorrow due to the sudden news, can honour the deceased,” Fantagio wrote.
“According to the wishes of the bereaved families, the funeral will be held as quietly as possible with the family members and company colleagues. Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the deceased.” the statement read.
Moon Bin joined ASTRO in 2016 as one of six members. However, the band became a team of five in late February when former member Rocky decided not to renew his management contract. Moon Bin’s most recent post on Instagram was on March 31st, in which he promoted a skincare product from Clinique.

The young artist’s untimely death has left fans and colleagues devastated, and the K-pop community is mourning the loss of yet another bright star.
Moonbin’s most recent post on Instagram was uploaded on 31 March, and features the singer promoting a skincare product from Clinique.
Fans have responded to the news by leaving their condolences on the post.

Moon Bin was a member of the South Korean boy band ASTRO as well as its splinter duo, Moonbin&Sanha. He was born on January 26, 1998, in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. Moon Bin had one younger brother, and his family was very supportive of his career in music.
Before joining ASTRO, Moon Bin had a successful career as a child actor, appearing in numerous television dramas and films. He made his acting debut in 2004 at the age of six in the drama “Kimchi Cheese Smile” and went on to appear in several other popular TV shows and movies.
In 2011, Moon Bin became a trainee under Fantagio Entertainment, one of the leading entertainment companies in South Korea. After several years of training, he debuted as a member of ASTRO in February 2016, alongside JinJin, MJ, Cha Eun-woo, Rocky, and Yoon San-ha.
As part of ASTRO, Moon Bin released several successful albums and singles, including “All Light” and “Blue Flame.” He was known for his smooth vocals, impeccable dance moves, and charismatic stage presence. Moon Bin also gained a large following on social media, where he regularly shared updates and photos with his fans.
Moon Bin’s sudden death on April 19, 2023, came as a shock to the music industry and his fans worldwide. He will be remembered as a talented and dedicated artist who brought joy and happiness to millions of people through his music and performances.
