KNUST students ordered to leave campus by September 18 [Read Why]

Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been directed by The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to vacate the school premises latest by Saturday, September 18, 2021.

This directive was made known to the public through a press statement released dated on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021, written and signed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei mensah.

Students have been asked to the campus premises following intelligence gathered by the security service that some groups of students are planning to interrupt the peaceful condition in the school on the eve of vacation, September 17.

the security council according to the statement has put some measures in place to ensure peace and sanity are maintained on the KNUST campus and also in a way for students to leave on vacation day to their respective homes in one peace.

Security personnel will be visibly stationed on the University Campus to ensure peace and security as well as to prevent and unruly behaviour by any group of students.

As it stands following the facts that all students are to vacate the campus on midday September 18, 2021, the only students who are permitted to stay back on campus are foreign students and also students who are authorized by the management of KNUST to do so.

Meanwhile, parents and guardians have been already been briefed and urged to caution their wards to stay out of trouble and adhere to the directive issued.

“If students decide to misbehave and engage in acts of indiscipline and criminality, they will be handled in accordance with the law.

“Any student who flouts the law, with offense bordering on criminality, will have a criminal investigation opened against him or her and prosecuted before a court of competent jurisdiction,” the statement warned.
