Latvian folk band Auli and Ghanaian soul singer Abiana have joined forces to launch a unique EP titled Voices of Ghana. Released on May 26, 2025, the EP combines centuries-old musical traditions with contemporary sounds, showcasing a powerful cultural collaboration between Africa and the Baltics.
Voices of Ghana is part of Auli’s ongoing Voices of the Ancestors series, which began in 2019 with artists from Mongolia, Austria, and Norway. This marks Auli’s first partnership with an African artist and is supported by Apprise Music, a leading Ghanaian music distributor and marketer.
Kaspars Barbals, Auli’s founding member and producer, shared:
“We aim to celebrate the world’s rich singing heritage. Working with Abiana, we’ve brought Ghana’s vibrant musical stories to life in a fresh way.”

Abiana, celebrated for her soulful voice and her fusion of Soul, Highlife, and Neo-Soul, rose to prominence with her 2020 debut single Adun Lei. The track earned her the Best Female Vocal Performance award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2021.
On this EP, Abiana reinterprets traditional Ghanaian folk songs, blending her vocals with Auli’s distinctive bagpipes and tribal drums. The fusion creates an energetic soundscape that unites West African rhythms with the lively spirit of Baltic music.
Beyond recording, Abiana also contributes to the project’s educational outreach, offering insights into Ghanaian vocal traditions through interviews and cultural presentations.
