Lionel Messi Extends Barcelona Contract For 5-Years With 50% Pay-Cut

Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi agrees to extend his contract with the spanish club for 5-years with a 50 per cent pay-cut.

The Barca attacker was very close to leaving Nou Camp last summer after his contract expired at the end of last month.

The Argentine Forward, Messi, 43, has however agreed on an extention of his playing contract/deal with the Barcelona Football Club for another 5-years, which means he is about spending his final career at Barca and is expected to retire at the club.

Lionel Messi due to the financial problems facing the club in current times has also agreed to take a 50% pay cut to support his club in their time of need.

While the deal is not definitively closed, it is believed to be very advanced and incredibly unlikely that it won’t now go through. The release clause in the contract will be €350million.

Lionel Messi who is regarded as one of the world’s greatest soccer players of our time helped his country, Argentina win their very first Copa America Cup just last week since 1993.
