Lupita Nyong’o has officially confirmed her breakup with Joshua Jackson, just a year after the two sparked romance rumors.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, the Oscar-winning actress shared that she is currently single, with her only companion being her beloved cat, Yoyo.
“My love for my cat is singular,” Lupita said, adding, “If I’m ever so lucky to be in a romantic relationship again, it’ll be because of him.”
The orange tomcat, adopted from the Best Friends Animal Society last October, has played a significant role in helping her keep her heart open, even as she moves forward.
Lupita and Joshua were first spotted together at a Janelle Monáe concert in Los Angeles in October 2023, and their relationship intensified with a romantic trip to Mexico to celebrate her 41st birthday in March.
However, recent developments indicate that Joshua has been seen with model Nastassja Roberts, signaling the end of their relationship.
Prior to their romance, Joshua was married to model Jodie Turner-Smith for four years, with their separation officially marked in September 2023.

Meanwhile, Lupita previously dated sports commentator Selema Masekela, with their relationship ending due to “deception,” as she revealed in an emotional Instagram post last October.
Reflecting on her past relationships, Lupita mentioned the lessons learned from her breakup with Selema, emphasizing personal growth and the importance of recognizing red flags.
“You go through a lot of like, ‘Why? What were the signs?'” she noted, revealing her introspective journey.
Moving forward, Lupita expressed a desire to keep her romantic life away from the public eye.
“It’s hard enough to go through heartbreak privately,” she remarked, underscoring the challenge of navigating personal pain under public scrutiny.
As she embarks on this new chapter, Lupita remains focused on her healing and the love she shares with Yoyo.
