Man who flogged toddler not yet arrested – Ghana Police say

Ghana Police issues a statement to refute rumors that the guy shown in the widely circulated video “Flogging Si Son” has been detained.

A father who was shown in a viral video severely hitting his own child, a little toddler, has finally been apprehended by Ghanaian police.

Many Ghanaians have been in unrest for the past few days following a viral video that saw a man whipping his barely three-year-old son as he screams in pain in the pressence of other men while none of them made no attempt to rescue the young lad.

He whipped the boy at least 21 times in the 1:18-minute length video

Many called on the police to arrest the man for giving such treatment to his own son.

Ghana police reacting to the news placed a 2,000 Ghana Cedis bounty as they pleaded with loyal Ghanaian citizens to help them find the man so he gets what the law has for him.

Child Rights International, a non-governmental organization, denounced the beating and also offered a 10,000 Ghana Cedis reward for the man’s capture.

Police not Yet Arrest Man Flogging Child

Police in a statement the law enforcement agency said it is still following a number of leads as part of the ongoing investigation to track down the individual involved as they are still counting on the help of Ghanaians to help them fish out the man.

“The Police are following a number of leads as part of the ongoing investigation to track down the individual involved in the child abuse video which has gone viral on social media. No confirmed arrest has yet been made in connection with the case. Our intelligence teams and experts from the Police Cyber Crime Unit are working around the clock to resolve the case.”

“We are also counting on the public for further information that could help the search and rescue of the child and arrest of the perpetrator. Therefore, we urge anyone with credible information on the development to contact the Police on 0243809991.”
