An official pardon means “total forgiveness by the state for a criminal conviction” and allows a person to completely clear their criminal record, says the release.

Meek Mill was one of 369 Pennsylvanians the governor pardoned this week. According to a news release from the governor’s office on Thursday, Wolf now has 2,540 pardons to his name, making him the Pennsylvania governor with the most ever.

“I have taken this process very seriously — reviewing and giving careful thought to each and every one of these 2,540 pardons and the lives they will impact,” Wolf shared in a statement. “Every single one of the Pennsylvanians who made it through the process truly deserves their second chance, and it’s been my honor to grant it.”

The rapper who is born with his legal name, Robert Rihmeek Williams was found guilty of dr*gs and firearms charges in a 2008 trial, and the judge handed down a sentence of one to two years in prison, followed by ten years of probation.

When the judge sentenced Williams to two to four years in jail for violating probation in 2017, citing a failed dr*g test, failing to follow a travel restriction order, and two unconnected charges, the matter reached a head. Despite the prosecutor’s and the probation officer’s recommendations that Williams not be imprisoned, the judge made the decision.

Williams spent months in prison before he was released, and a Pennsylvania appeals court overturned his conviction in 2019 because new evidence undermined the credibility of the arresting officer. The next month, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge in a deal that resolved the 2007 arrest.
