Kayode, who had been on the FBI’s Most Wanted Cyber Criminal List, was arrested in Ghana in April 2023 and handed over to FBI agents before being flown to the U.S.

Kayode made his first appearance in court on December 11, 2024, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael D. Nelson, who ordered him to remain detained pending trial.

He is accused of playing a crucial role in the BEC scam, which took place between 2015 and 2016. The scam involved co-conspirators who impersonated business executives through spoofed emails to trick employees into transferring funds.
