One of the four suspects in the murder case of Pop Smoke has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery and have been sentenced.
The 20-year-old defendant who was 17-years at the time of the incident was sentenced to four years and two months in a juvenile treatment facility by Judge J. Christopher Smith on Thursday (April 5).
The defendant admitted to breaking into the late rapper’s Hollywood Hills mansion to steal from him, which resulted in a violent confrontation that led to Pop Smoke’s death.
According to the L.A. Times, the judge refused to reduce the sentence by the time the defendant had already spent in jail, which was two years and eight months.
The judge also warned the defendant that he could remain in juvenile custody until he turned 25.
The defendant’s attorney previously argued that their client had a learning disability, which made him unable to stand trial.
Pop Smoke was shot and killed during a home invasion in Hollywood Hills in February 2020.
The case was challenging for the police, who caught no breaks during the lengthy investigation.
Three other suspects, including two minors and Corey Walker, have been charged, but their trials have not taken place yet.
