Premier league clubs hopes of signing Brazilian and Leeds United’s winger is now over after Barcelona finally agreed a fee of €58 million plus a further €7 million in add-ons to secure the former Rennes ace.

Chelsea had an agreement over a €75 million deal with Leeds United for the former Sporting CP winger last week but the player’s desire on joining Catalan giants meant there was no progress.

The news came as a blow to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and new boss Todd Boehly after believing they had everything thing under control. The Blues are close to finalising their first signing of the season and would focus on another target after missing out on the Brazilian.

Chelsea were actually the first club to agree a fee with Leeds for the 25-year-old Brazilian, while Arsenal and Tottenham also made superior offers but Raphinha’s stance of wanting to join the Catalan giants forced the Premier League club to accept a lower bid for his services.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona have now reached a total agreement to sign Raphinha after a long drawn-out saga.

The two clubs have been going back and forth in negotiations over the 25-year-old Brazilian, with the entry of Chelsea into the mix making matters complicated for the Blaugrana.

Fabrizio Romano has also claimed that the Blaugrana will be shelling out a fixed sum of €58 million, but he states that the total value of the deal will be around €68 million including add-ons.

Raphinha has already agreed a five-year contract with Barcelona which will run until the summer of 2027. With there being a full agreement in place between the two clubs, Barcelona can hope to get the deal across the line before they fly out to the US for the pre-season tour.

Raphinha’s contract at Elland Road was due to until 2024 but will leave the club early to join the Catalan giants next term after scoring nine goals in 27 Premier League appearances for Leeds United last season.

However, Raphinha always had his heart set on moving to Camp Nou and will now travel to Barcelona on Wednesday as he looks to wrap up his dream move.

The 25-year old, who trained at Leeds’ Thorp Arch training ground on Tuesday, is waiting to hear that he can be registered as a Barcelona player before his £56million transfer is confirmed.
