Reports: Memphis Depay Allegedly Paid €1 Million (video)

After posting a €1 million bail, former Barcelona and Sevilla defender Dani Alves was freed from prison while he awaited the outcome of his appeal against a four and a half year sentence for rape. In order to stop him from leaving the nation, his two passports have also been revoked.

Alves is currently unable to access his inheritance of over €50 million. La Vanguardia had reported that a group of Alves’ pals had put money into a pot to provide the money for Alves. TUDN Mexico later expanded on this, stating that Memphis Depay, a forward for Atletico Madrid, was one of the people who had helped.

Recently, Memphis claimed that the two were friends. However, Sebastian Ladure, representing Memphis, appeared on Telecinco to refute this, according to MD, calling the statement “fake news” and said, “It’s not true at all.”

Neymar’s father released a statement stating that he would not be paying the bail in light of Alves’ conviction. Initially, the Neymar family assisted Alves in paying the victim’s original damages of €150k.
