Manchester City were held on Tuesday night at Parken Stadium by FC Copenhagen, preventing them from extending their winning streak to four games in the Champions League group stage.

City’s perfect record in Champions League saw them winning three of their games, including a recent 5-0 victory over Copenhagen at the Etihad.

The game in Copenhagen on Tuesday night was decided by three VAR decisions as City was kept to a scoreless draw.

Sergio Gomez’s ejection in the first half forced Pep Guardiola to alter his starting lineup.

City had already had a goal by Rodri called out due to Riyad Mahrez’s handball in the setup.

Mahrez later witnessed a penalty kick be saved on a gloomy night for the visitors.

Pep Guardiola don't understand VAR rules
“Inter Milan vs Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool? So, no [I don’t understand it],”
Speaking to BT Sport, Rodri spoke about his disallowed goal:

“Sometimes it’s like this you have to live with this kind of games with an early red card. This team fights until the end and we have chances, scored a goal, disallowed it, it’s difficult when it’s 10 against 11,” the midfielder said.

“A bit frustrating of course, no one realised what happened. Sadly it’s handball, I don’t know if it was intentional or not, in a fight but it is what it is”.

“We respect the decision, it’s a mess, we have penalty then we miss then we have a red card and it completely changes the game”.

Rodri speaking on Gomez’s red:

“There’s two options, if he thinks there’s enough contact, the game has to go on,” he said.

“If he thinks there is contact. I don’t know the rules for a red card. If he grabs outside the box? Of course. If it’s a foul it’s a red card. I didn’t see again so I don’t know.”
