Kazakhstan residents have been leading an anti-government unrests in recent weeks over the mismanagement of the country. Fuel prices skyrocketed and some other things fell out of place.

In the wake of the troubles surrounding the country, the protestants demanded for the absolute removal of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the president right wing man/Mentor from the country’s politics. Nazarbayev was hand-picked by Kassym-Jomart in 2019 to head the country having being the first president of Kazakhstan.

When he stepped down from the seat of power, the political figure was appointed as the chief of national security hence still is an influential person in the country.

However, crises ensured between the current president of the country and chief of national security, two former best friends, as a result of the protest. Nazarbayev authoritatively removed Tokayev from the position of power and went further to dissolve the seating political cartel.

Moreover, in the course of this development; this is the first time which the Collective Security Treaty Organization shortly known as CSTO was called upon to action. This organisation is a combination of former Soviet Union nations and they are: Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan.

The Moscow-led organisation helped in keeping most of the protestants at bay as attempts were made at invading government buildings and facilities.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to the development and issued a statement about the whole crisis. It reads:
“We view the recent events in a friendly country as an attempt to undermine the security and integrity of the state by force, using trained and organized armed formations, that is inspired from the outside.”
