TGS, an energy data and intelligence company, has partnered with the African Energy Week (AEW) (www.AECWeek.com): Invest in African Energy 2024 conference and exhibition as a bronze sponsor, scheduled from 4 – 8 November in Cape Town.

Dedicated to stimulating new investments and fostering the growth of the African market through innovative data solutions and intelligence, TGS’ sponsorship highlights the event’s role in driving Africa’s energy resurgence.

AEW: Invest in African Energy serves as the premier platform for project operators, financiers, technology providers, and government stakeholders, emerging as the official venue for securing deals in African energy. Further details about this event are available at www.AECWeek.com.

In August 2023, TGS launched a multi-client 3D survey for the Awele South basin, spanning 5,900 km offshore Nigeria, aiming to uncover the untapped potential of the Niger Delta Basin.

This initiative aims to assist Nigeria and its partners in devising strategies to unlock opportunities, mitigate drilling risks, attract funding, and boost production. At the conference, TGS is poised to discuss such advancements alongside its contributions to the sustainable growth of Africa’s oil and gas markets.

Previously, the company conducted a 2D seismic survey in the Mauritania-Senegal-Gambia-Bissau-Conakry (MSGBC) basin offshore Mauritania in 2021, supporting the country’s efforts to capitalize on discoveries like bp’s Greater Tortue Ahmeyim.

Moreover, TGS completed a 3D seismic survey covering over 28,000 km2 offshore Senegal, Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau in 2020, along with a separate 3D seismic survey covering 4,770 square km offshore The Gambia in support of future licensing rounds by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

As hydrocarbon-rich African nations intensify upstream activities to meet energy security, industrialization, and GDP growth targets, TGS positions itself as a trusted intelligence partner.

The company holds vital 2D seismic data for Angola’s entire Kwanza Basin, encompassing eight of the 12 onshore blocks awarded in January 2024 as part of the 2023 Tender for 12 onshore blocks, crucial for guiding exploratory efforts.

In Namibia, TGS provides over 50,000-line km of multi-client 2D seismic data offshore and over 97,500 km of regional 2D data across the hydrocarbon-rich Orange Basin.

Similarly, in South Africa, the firm’s seismic surveys in the Orange, Outeniqua, and Durban basins are pivotal in driving current and future upstream activities.

During AEW: Invest in African Energy, TGS will engage in high-level panel discussions spotlighting Africa’s oil and gas prospects, collaborating with African energy policymakers and stakeholders to unlock the continent’s vast potential.

“TGS has played a crucial role in shaping Africa’s hydrocarbon industry with its seismic and geology interpretation services and innovative products. The company’s offerings are essential for Africa to attract new oil and gas exploration investments needed to meet the growing energy demands for industrialization and energy access,” remarked NJ Ayuk, the Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber.
