Travelling to the UK from Accra and returning to music – OA

By Majesty 3 Min Read

OA, a resident of the UK who was born in Ghana and was born in Accra in the early 1970s, has had a fascinating life filled with travel, family, and music.

After completing his secondary education in his hometown of Agona SDA Secondary School, OA started his musical career in 1992, influenced by his Adventist family’s rich musical heritage.

OA joined his mother in the mid-1990s to pursue his musical career, having spent the majority of his childhood in Ghana under the care of his late grandmother, who functioned as both a mother and a guardian.

He recorded “Tie Bi,” an album with his uncle Pat Thomas, in 1997 while going by the stage name Alpha B. With hits like “Afe Bi Y3 Asan” and “Fano Saa Ara,” this album went on to become a big smash.

In the early 2000s, when OA was still in the UK, they published another album called “W’ani Asogya” in response to the success of “Tie Bi.”

But because he was having trouble finding a trustworthy producer in Ghana, he decided to take a sabbatical from record releases for personal reasons.

Despite his passion for music, OA prioritized raising his four daughters from a previous marriage in the UK.

Following a period of time spent focusing on his family and working as a CCTV operator, OA made a full-time comeback to music in 2021 and 2022, recording hits like “Suspect,” “Worship,” “Spare My Lips,” and “Dump,” which featured Buddy Roro.

These singles were recorded and mastered at Roro Studio, along with his next releases.

Even after nearly three decades in the UK, OA maintains strong ties to his Ghanaian heritage. Now happily remarried in Accra to his childhood sweetheart, he makes frequent trips home and cherishes his close relationship with his girls, who are now living with their mother in South London.

Nevertheless, OA’s lessons on his YouTube channel, OA Official, demonstrate that in addition to being a gifted musician, he is a godly man with a wealth of knowledge in the Bible.

His trip from Accra to the UK and back to the music industry is evidence of his tenacity and commitment to his work.
