Two (2) brothers tragically lost their lives after becoming stuck in the Betenase illegal mining hole, which is located close to Adansi Akrofoum.

The two Laari Akwasi, 27, and Laari Bodjoa, 26, reportedly left their home in the early hours of Saturday, April 13, 2024, to engage in illicit mining activities outside of their village, but it was later revealed that they had become trapped in an illegal mining pit. Laari David, the deceased people’s older brother, provided this information.

Consequently, he went to the police for help. The complainant and the police visited the illegal mining site near Betenase, where they saw two dead male adult bodies positioned in close proximity to each other in a supine position, along with a large crowd.

After the bodies were properly examined, it was discovered that Laari Bodjoa had face injuries with blood seeping from them and that deceased Laari Akwasi, who was wearing yellow nylon shorts, had a fracture on his left hand.

For preservation and autopsy, the bodies were placed in the mortuary of the Obuasi government hospital.
