In a heart-wrenching incident, Mr. Isah Ibrahim Maru, a social policy specialist associated with the United Nations, faced the unthinkable as he lost two of his children in a devastating fire incident.
The grief-stricken father confirmed the tragic news during a condolence visit by members of the correspondents’ chapel of Zamfara Council, NUJ, in Maru.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 13, around 5:00 am, when Maru discovered over 20 missed calls from his family members.
Details surrounding the cause of the fire remain uncertain. Maru recounted that his two wives reported being awakened by an intense heat caused by the flames.
At the time of the incident, the area was plunged into darkness, and everyone was asleep, according to the information provided to him.
Tragically, his two young daughters were unable to escape the engulfed rooms, resulting in their untimely demise.
The house accommodated a total of nine family members, including Maru’s two wives and children. Fortunately, seven of them managed to either escape independently or were rescued by bystanders.
The grieving father, grappling with the inexplicable loss, expressed the difficulty in ascertaining the cause of the fire. The incident has left a profound impact on the community, highlighting the need for increased awareness and safety measures.
As the community mourns the loss of two innocent lives, authorities are urged to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire and implement preventive measures to avert similar tragedies in the future.
