Patience Ozokwor, a veteran Nigerian actress, has given advice to aspiring actors and actresses in the film industry.
The 64-year-old actress told her younger colleagues at a candlelight vigil in memory of Africa Movie Academy Awards founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, that they don’t need to relocate to Lagos or Abuja to succeed.
She encouraged them to abandon the notion that they needed to live in either state to be successful in Nollywood.
She went on to say that living in Lagos or Abuja is not a requirement for success, and that they can stay in their states and still become stars.
According to the thespian, some actors and actresses started their careers in the east but moved to the west after they became famous and forgot their roots.
Using herself as an example, she said, “For me, I said I am going to stay in Enugu, inside the village and when I go to Lagos, I tell them I am a village woman.
“I stay at Ngwo in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State and God has shown me that you can become a star from anywhere. You don’t need to be in Lagos or Abuja”.
“If you are good enough, they will call you even from America.”
