A Thanksgiving celebration turned to tragedy for a Florida family when 71-year-old Hureleyon McLean was shot and killed after an argument over loud music with his neighbor.
The incident occurred on November 28 in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, when McLean was fatally shot by the neighbor, who was reportedly upset by the noise.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene around 3:30 p.m. and found McLean suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The neighbor, who was not identified by authorities, was detained and claimed to have acted in self-defense during the altercation.
The case is still under investigation, and once completed, it will be presented to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office for review.

McLean’s wife, Rose, shared that the couple had been enjoying Thanksgiving with their family when the neighbor, who lived one floor below, came upstairs to complain about the loud music.
McLean then went downstairs to speak with the neighbor, and moments later, Rose heard a gunshot. She recounted her shock at finding the neighbor standing with a gun in his hand.
“He was just standing there, looking at me with his gun in his hand,” Rose said, adding that the neighbor threatened her as well. “He told me if I didn’t shut my mouth, he would shoot me too.”
McLean, a father and grandfather, worked as a bus driver for a private company. His wife expressed the heartache of losing her husband in such a senseless way.
“For him to be taken away like this, trust me, it’s very hard,” she said.
