African Union (AU) has appointed Ghana’s ex-president John Dramani Mahama as its representative to Somalia.
This was made known to the public in a statement released by the Chairperson of African Union (AU) Faki Mahamat, announcing John Dramani Mahama as the High Representative to Somalia.
In recent times, the people of Somalia have not been enjoying the best of peace in the country due to the ongoing political tension.
According to the statement released by AU, John Mahama’s mission to Somalia is to work towards resolving the political crisis the country is facing in other to restore peace and stability.
“As the High Representative for Somalia’s political track. President Mahama will work with the Somali stakeholders, to reach a mutually acceptable compromise towards an all-encompassing resolution for the holding of Somali elections in the shortest time possible” – the statement read.
