The 37th African Union (AU) summit is scheduled to take place this weekend in Adis Ababa, Ethiopia, and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is anticipated to participate.
On February 14, the presidency made this announcement.
“Akufo-Addo will be present at the 37th African Union Summit, which is taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The heads of state will meet on February 17 and 18, 2024,” the president said on Facebook.

As stated in the press release, “President Akufo-Addo will give an update on Ghana’s hosting of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area and invite Member States of the Commission to a breakfast meeting on education and AU financial institutions.”
Prior to his journey to Ethiopia, President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to attend a security conference in Munich, Germany, Federal Republic of Germany.
One important forum for international talks on security policy is the Munich Security Conference (MSC).
The presidency states that MSC 2024 seeks to “counter revisionist tendencies and strengthen the rules-based international order.” In addition to celebrating the conference’s 60th anniversary, the event will feature debates and side events.
Along with him were representatives from the Foreign Ministry and the Presidency, as well as First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, MP.
