The late Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah’s wife, Apostle Mrs Lilian Kumah, is requesting an explanation from media figure Captain Smart over claims that her husband was poisoned.

She has requested that the Ghana Police Service make sure the Onua TV host provides evidence to support his statements regarding the events that led to her husband’s death in an official complaint.

The Deputy Finance Minister, who passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, was allegedly adversely impacted by food poisoning, according to Captain Smart during a live TV programme.

He added that another possible target was the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.

The widow said in a statement that these accusations, which she described as “misinforming and unfortunate,” are adding to their already existing pain.

In order to put an end to the conjectured story surrounding her husband’s death, Apostle Lilian is pleading with the police to look into these allegations.

The late John Kumah’s widow, Apostle Mrs Lilian Kumah, is reportedly asking the Ghana Police Service to investigate remarks made by Onua TV TV and radio host Captain Smart regarding the health issues of the now-deceased Deputy Finance Minister.

Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, the widow of the late John Kumah, is reportedly seeking answers through the Ghana Police Service from Captain Smart, a TV and Radio presenter at Onua TV, regarding statements he reportedly made about the health battles of the now-deceased Deputy Finance Minister.

“The widow’s pursuit of investigations into Mr. Smart’s claims aims to rectify the emerging conspiracy discourse surrounding the lawmaker’s passing while signaling to other individuals without basis to refrain from further publishing spurious or unfounded allegations on the matter.”

According to his spokesperson, Bismarck Twumasi, John Kumah, 45, passed away in an ambulance on the way to Accra, where he was going to receive medical attention in Germany.

The late Deputy Finance Minister left a wife and six children, as well as an enduring void in the hearts of many, and the news of his passing sent the people of Ejisu into deep sadness. I hope his soul is at peace.
