Prior to his untimely death, BTB Savage was a rising star in the rap scene. He had conducted revealing interviews with Off the Porch and, more recently, with VladTV.

During these interviews, he spoke candidly about his experience with self-defense, claiming to have killed a man who attempted to rob him at his San Antonio residence after requesting a feature. These interviews helped to establish his reputation as a serious artist in the rap community.

“He like, ‘I been trying to do this for a long time, bro. You been bullshitting.’ I’m like, ‘Alright, bet,’” he said. “We go inside the crib and they just talking and shit, looking around. I figured it was kind of weird they were looking around walking into my crib … but I didn’t pay it no mind. I was just kinda like, ‘C’mon, let’s get this out the way.’ I’m gonna go and knock this out 30 seconds rapping real quick then I’m done. I ain’t tripping.”

BTB continued by saying the more the man and his relative loitered around his apartment, the more nervous he got. When the person asking for the feature went to get studio equipment from his car, he locked the door behind him.

“His uncle, he pulled out some bread and was like, ‘Oh we ain’t on that…you don’t gotta lock the doors or nothing like that. I’m a grown man,” Savage continued. “While he talking, he asking about my chain, like, ‘What jeweler you go to?’ Blah blah blah.

“And I told him, ‘Yeah, I dropped a bag on this one.’ And then right as I’m talking, I go down to look at my piece while he talking…that’s when he upped and pulled on me and he was like, ‘Run that.’”

Ultimately, BTB Savage was able to wrestle the gun out of the man’s hand before his girlfriend fired the fatal shots.
