Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He has called on all political parties, especially the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), to abstain from running in the upcoming by-election in the Ejisu Constituency.

Chairman Wontumi emphasised the importance of remembering the late MP for the constituency, John Kumah, and stressed that his contributions to the Ejisu Constituency and the country at large should be honoured.

As a result, he made a plea to all voters to band together in order to prevent other political parties from running for the seat.

“Every member of the Ejisu community ought to assist us in demonstrating to the NDC our sincerity. It is best if they (NDC) do not contest. Chairman Wontumi said, “But if they want to run, we will transform our seriousness into a vote for the NPP so they can understand that we love John by demonstrating love to his replacement.

The NPP mainstay admitted that other political parties ought to think about the wider ramifications of their involvement, even though the NPP was certain of winning the next by-election.

The general elections are in just eight months. If you would like to run, we will work hard to make our campaign win big even if the NPP will prevail.

“Seeing that we are using this by-election in honour of John Kumah will be nice for both sides,” he continued.
