The Queen mother of Sunyani, Nana Akosua Dua Sika Asor Brayie, has urged John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, to choose his running mate from the Bono Region.

She emphasized that the people of the Bono Region have consistently supported Mahama and the NDC, and selecting a vice-presidential candidate from the region would be a reciprocal gesture.

Speaking at a public event during Mahama’s Ghana Together tour in Wenchi, she stated, “The Traditional Council supports him. We know he loves the Bono Region because his wife comes from here.

We have had vice presidents from other regions for quite some time, but this time, we want him to choose his running mate from this region.

Meanwhile, Mahama criticized the government’s management of the poultry industry, asserting that it is currently facing challenges, with local farmers bearing the brunt.

Mahama accused the Akufo-Addo administration of neglecting the previous government’s policy to reduce poultry importation. He pledged that an NDC administration, if elected in 2024, would prioritize local poultry farmers and work to improve the industry, contrasting it with what he perceived as NPP financiers benefiting from poultry importation.
