Donnarumma agrees five-year contract with PSG after leaving AC Milan

Gianluigi Donnarumma has agreed a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain and the in-demand goalkeeper will undergo a medical this week, according to reports.

AC Milan stopper Donnarumma will leave the club as a free agent at the end of the month after failing to agree terms for an extension – and PSG now look to have won the race after swooping in.

The reputable Fabrizio Romano claims that Donnarumma will officially put pen to paper on the contract, bringing an end to any speculation.
Donnarumma, who is currently with Italy for Euro 2020, is likely to undergo his checks after Wednesday, when the Azzurri take on Switzerland in their second fixture in Group A.

Despite making 251 appearances for Milan, the highly-rated starlet has been able to exit for free and PSG moved quickly to wrap up the signing.

His career has been a stunning rise since his Serie A debut, which came in 2015 when he was aged just 16 years and 242 days, and Donnarumma is now the undisputed No 1 for his country, too.

Donnarumma agrees five-year contract with PSG: He has been awarded 27 caps for Italy’s senior team, and caught the eye when helping Milan to a second-place finish – and Champions League football – in the top-flight last season.

It was confirmed by Milan director Paolo Maldini last month that Donnarumma would leave at the end of his deal, and the club secured a ready-made replacement in Mike Maignan, who won Ligue 1 with Lille.

The shock departure is said to have led to several top clubs across Europe expressing their interest, including Chelsea, Juventus and Manchester United.

The links to Serie A rivals Juventus saw angered supporters confront Donnarumma at the Milan training ground last month, according to news agency ANSA.

Barcelona were also rumoured to be weighing up an approach for Donnarumma, with concerns at the club held over the fitness of custodian Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Sky Sports reported that the long-term deal tabled by PSG is extremely lucrative, with Donnarumma set to bank £10million (€12m) per year, plus add-ons.

The heft investment quickly led to question marks being raised over the futures of Navas and understudy Sergio Rico, with both goalkeepers still tied down to the Ligue 1 outfit until 2024.

Transfer expert Romano, however, says that Donnarumma will not be shipped out after his arrival, with Mauricio Pochettino set to be handed a welcome selection headache between the sticks.
