Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a senior member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has disclosed what keeps President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo awake until the early hours of the morning.

In a tweet sent on February 8, 2022, he summed up the President’s major headaches.

According to him, the president’s priority since taking office has been to improve the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.

On Twitter, he tweeted: “What keeps ⁦@NAkufoAddo up past 1 am every night is how to tackle the economic hardships facing his people. From day 1, his programs have been all about how to help the masses, create jobs, help businesses,” his tweet read in part.

Yet, the latter half of the post was a jab at the main opposition National Democratic Congress. This is because NDC’s presidential candidate for 2020, John Dramani Mahama, recently delivered free economic lessons to the government.

“Unlike NDC’s crisis, Covid wasn’t homegrown!” Gabby’s tweet concluded.

On Monday, in response to Mahama’s economic op-ed titled: “Time is ticking for the crisis-ridden Ghanaian economy.”

Gabby chastised the previous President for daring to speak about the economy. Despite his own track record in the area.

Gabby’s dissatisfaction with Mahama’s economic op-ed

According to Gabby, Mahama lacks the authority to pass a critical judgment on the economy. Especially because the economy was saved from collapse under his watch by the International Monetary Fund.

He compared Mahama’s letter to a stammerer advising a rapper.

Moreover, he mentioned a section of Mahama’s economic analysis early on before giving his opinion on it.

“JM’s Teachings: “Government must as a matter of urgency, borrow a leaf from our sound approach toward the challenges we faced in 2015. We immediately convened the Senchi Economic Forum…”

“His ‘home-grown’ policies to his home-grown problems led us to the IMF for IMF solutions,” Gabby stated.
