Former Ghanaian midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has made a surprising turnaround regarding his previous statement about Lionel Messi being the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) during his time at Barcelona.
Boateng, who played alongside the Argentine superstar during the 2018/19 season, has revealed the reasons behind his earlier claim.
In a recent interview with FIVE UK, the former AC Milan star confessed that he was compelled to declare Messi as the best player to ensure his continued presence at Barcelona.

He candidly admitted that when asked about who the world’s best player was, he would have to respond with “Messi,” although it was one of the biggest lies he had ever told because he is known for speaking the truth.
Boateng humorously remarked, “They say who is the best player in the world, you say Messi,” which garnered a humorous reaction from Rio Ferdinand and others present during the interview. He further explained, “This is one of the biggest lies because I usually say the truth, but this one I had to lie because I wanted to put on the shirt for one time at Camp Nou.”
